As its title suggest, the Homage to Tadao Ando pays tribute to the Japanese architect, who designed the Fabrica Research Centre where work was presented. Spiral patterns were extracted from the architectural plan, and rendered into structures of musical composition. These pattern were then illuminated on a pond in the Centre at night. Participants were invited to flow candle-lit paper boats on the water. Musical scores were generated when the boats, carried by the wind, intercepted the illuminated patterns. Reminiscent of the Ando’s signature embrace of Nature’s elements, a music ensemble was formed as participants interacted with water, wind and fire.
